3 ripe Hass avocados, about 7 oz. each
Juice of 1 lime (2 Tbsp.)
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1/4 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 cup minced red onion
2 small tomatoes, seeded and diced (1 cup)
2 Tbsp. minced cilantro
2 garlic cloves, crushed (1 Tbsp.)


  1. Cut open the avocados, remove the pits, scoop out the avocado flesh, and discard the skin. Put the avocado in a bowl and toss with the lime juice.
  2. Using a fork, potato masher, or mortar and pestle, mash the avocado with the salt and cumin. Add the red onion, tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic, and gently fold in.
  3. To help the flavors blend, let the guacamole stand at room temperature while assembling the tacos.
